Automobiles in Germany's Town Discovered Covered with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Law Enforcement Confirm

Officers stated they were notified by a resident who discovered a automobile in Hanau covered with reddish substance

Approximately 50 vehicles have been smeared with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German city of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to police.

Vehicles, building surfaces and postboxes were marked, in some cases with swastikas, they stated in a statement.

Law enforcement report they were contacted late on Wednesday evening, when a resident discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored substance.

The substance had been placed in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they added.

Law enforcement then located many other marked vehicles and building exteriors in the surrounding area.

Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations outlawing the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.

Officials say preliminary tests show the fluid was probably human bodily fluid.

"There is still no indication as to where it came from; investigators are not yet cognizant of any injuries in association with the incident," they stated.

Local authorities said they were working "to solve the case" and have asked to the community for tips.

A senior official said the attack made him stunned and had to be solved promptly.

"This event affects the core of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the right-wing terrorist attack five years ago," he posted on a platform, referring to the death of nine victims by a shooter aiming at people of foreign heritage in 2020.
